Coach Kellie Scheidel
Head Coach - Caledonia Equestrian Team
I'm a proud Alumni of the Caledonia Equestrian team. I've been involved with this team since 2006 and began coaching in 2014. As a coach my main focus was Speed and Reining. As a competitor, I started showing my Quarter Horse - Radical Confessions, Ruby at the age of 10 and continued to show Western and Hunt Seat at the open show level and State Breed shows. After 7 years of showing Pleasure, I ventured to Speed and Reining with my QH mare What's Sizzlin Jac - Brie! For speed, Brie gave me the honor of winning numerous State titles in Barrels, Keyhole, Two Man as well as other riders that have leased her for the Equestrian Team. I have competed in FBHA, local rodeos, and several shows around the State. Reining has always been a passion of mine, from out of state clinics to lessons from local NRHA champions, I'm always trying to learn more.
Professionally, I work for my fathers Truck Brokerage and I sell Real Estate with Greenridge Realty.
In my spare time I provide riding lessons at my barn Sierra Ridge Stables with my sister, Hannah. My latest project has been training from ground up my 4 year old filly Oaklie, out of the Reining champion Tuff N Busy. She will be my next reining and all around performance horse.
I'm extremely excited to be your Head Coach for The Caledonia Equestrian Team!

Coach Kim Fredrick
Assistant Coach - Caledonia Equestrian Team - Hunt Seat & Saddle Seat Coach
Kim began working with horses at a young age and quickly developed a passion for Arabian horses. She began working with a trainer and showing her own horses starting at the age of 11.
She continued her equine focus by receiving her certification from MSU for Horse Management in 1999. Kim has managed a number of barns and lesson programs.
In 2003 she, and her husband Jason, established Foxfield Arabians. Foxfield Arabians is now the home to 35 horses with a robust training program for horses and students of all ages and abilities. Kim and her family have created a friendly, open and positive environment for all riders and horses.
Kim creates individual training plans appropriate for each of her riders according to their riding level and goals. These plans are focused on riders creating a positive relationship with their horse and teaching them a training style that allows each rider to connect with their horse through patience, respect, heart and knowledge. Throughout training, her riders are taught how to continue training their horse in this same training style.
Kim’s abundance of heart and caring has not only created a wonderful training environment, but has resulted in award winning horses and riders. The success has lead Kim, her horses and riders to a number of championships at Arabian Shows and through the Caledonia Equestrian Team, Kim has created a true Foxfield Family of riders and friends for a lifetime.

Coach Hannah Cox
Assistant Coach - Caledonia Equestrian Team - Speed Coach
Currently I own a 7-year-old Quarter Horse named Jetta. She competed on the Equestrian team for the first-time last year. Her main events are barrels, 2 man and flag race.
I first started to get into horses when I was ten years old. I did seven years in 4-H. Competed at the state level and won two state titles for senior speed grand champion. I joined the Caledonia Highschool Equestrian team in 2006. During my four-year high school career on the equestrian team, I was awarded a top ten award in the district. Went to MIHA state championships three out of the four years. I placed in the top 5 for barrels at state and second in the flag race. I was also awarded the most improved rider my sophomore year. On the equestrian team I competed in western pleasure, reining, showmanship, and speed.
The years after high school I have competed in many open shows around Michigan. The event that I love most is Flag race. I have also owned horses that I helped train on barrels and ground work. I also give lessons on my free time. I am a proud mother of two boys, three and eight months old.
I had the pleasure to be a coach for the first-time last year. My main goal as a coach is to educate and encourage our youth, and continue to share my love of horse with others. Having the opportunity to compete and learn as I have is such a fundamental part of my life, and a huge blessing. I want to continue to grow and help others along the way.

Coach Karah Lloyd
Assistant Coach - Caledonia Equestrian Team - Western and Trail Coach
Hello, I am Karah Lloyd. I was born and raised in Caledonia, my mom started to Caledonia Equestrian Team and coach for 15 years, until I joined the team. I started riding horses at the age of three, showed 4-H for 14 years, and rode on both the Arabian and Paint circuit for a couple of years. I have experience in all disciplines, but excel in western, trail and showmanship. Outside of horses I work as a Preschool Teacher for Head Start and work in real estate, along side of my mom.
I have enjoyed being back in the equestrian team family, and look forward to being a part of it for years to come. I am excited to learn more about each rider and participant involved through our team. I look forward to a successful journey!

Coach Laura Darby
Assistant Coach - Caledonia Equestrian Team - Huntseat and Jumping Coach
I am currently retired from Sales for Pharmaceuticals and now have time for my horse. I started riding at age 9 and began with 4H and then moved on to United States Pony Club. I achieved a C-3 rating in Pony Club before having to move to Germany with my parents. When I returned for College I rode IHSA for Virginia Tech. My focus was on Eventing (dressage, cross country jumping and stadium jumping). Obviously my preference is Jumping. I have trained several horses and taught my daughter to ride and taught her horse to jump correctly. Madelin (my daughter) is currently rated C-1 in Pony Club and is schooling 4th level Dressage as well as riding for Albion College Hunt Seat Team. I am very experienced at the show ring with regards to English disciplines, with some light experience in Western Pleasure. Most recently I have assisted Caledonia Equestrian team with Hunt Seat over fences for the last 5 years.
